President's Message
ARMA Utah-Salt Lake Chapter
January 11, 2012
It’s the time of year for new resolutions. There’s something about refreshing the calendar that refreshes our enthusiasm and desire to make ourselves better. This year, I have made some professional resolutions: go the extra mile to develop my staff, take a public speaking class, research graduate schools. I like the Japanese concept of Kaizen – continuous improvement – and am constantly looking for ways to apply it in my life. I encourage all of you to think about what you could be doing this year to improve yourself professionally and personally, then take the first step! I know you’ll find that your colleagues and friends in the Utah-Salt Lake Chapter will be here to support you in your efforts to grow.
It’s also a great time to revisit our Chapter’s mission and goals and to reflect on what we can do to make our Chapter the best it can be. Our mission is “to advance the professional practice of Records and Information Management by consistently offering high quality educational & networking opportunities.” This means providing exceptional programming, engaging members, and building leadership skills. So how can you help? Here are some ideas: invite a co-worker or colleague to a meeting; write an article for our new chapter newsletter; volunteer to speak at a chapter meeting; attend our Spring seminar; volunteer for a board position; or submit content for our website. The possibilities really are endless. If you have a talent or skill, I’d bet we’ll find a way to use it!
I’d also like to take this opportunity to send a huge THANK YOU to all of our members and friends who have supported our Chapter through the years! Because we are a volunteer-run organization, we truly could not exist if it wasn’t for your hard work and dedication. Let’s make this year our best yet!
Regards,
Lauren Nathanson, CRM
